BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Christian Institute of Arts and Sciences is blessed to have a six-member Board of Directors who are active in local churches, ministries, businesses, and the homeschooling community and have a vested interest in CIAS. The Governing Board consists of Julie B. Jones, Mary Beth Jones, and Tricia Jones. The Advisory Board consists of Jana Roland, Lee Hutchinson, and Gina Beauchamp.

Transparency: CIAS created and submitted its first Articles of Incorporation to the Florida Department of State on August 11, 1999. The CIAS BY-LAWS were amended on July 8, 2025.

Julie B. Jones: President & Founder
Julie B. Jones is CIAS's Founder Emeritus and has served on the board as President since 1999. After a career as a middle school, high school, and junior college teacher, Julie Jones has dedicated her life to the cause of homeschooling, mentoring and teaching her own children as well as many other students for over 50 years. She graduated from Baylor University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education (double major); her Masters of Science in English and Guidance and Counseling was earned from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1967. Julie has also completed post-graduate work with the National Institute of Learning Development and is an educational therapist and reading specialist. Julie was married to D. Patrick Jones for 44 years before he passed away in 2009. She is the blessed mother of five children, mother-in-law of two, and beloved MaeMae to eight grandchildren.

Michael E. Collins: Retired Pastoral/Director
Michael Collins retired from the CIAS Board after 25 years of dedicated service. He is also retired from his role as the Senior Pastor at Charity Chapel in Pensacola. He married his wife Pam in 1975 and has been pastoring since 1979. Michael attended Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts in 1977. In 1979, he received his Master’s Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Mike and Pam have three sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren. Mike serves on many boards, including Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen and Globe International. He also serves as the Northwest Florida & South Alabama District Overseer and is a Presbyter of Liberty Fellowship. He enjoys working with service dogs and ministering to special needs children and their families. Pastor Mike served on the CIAS Board from 1999 through 2024.

Jana C. Roland: Director
Mary Beth Jones has dedicated her life's work to the vision and mission of CIAS. Homeschooled all of her life, she began helping her mom homeschool her siblings when she was finishing high school in 1993 and was first exposed to the world of learning exceptionalities/special education as a teen in church as a Missionettes/Daisies Sponsor and AWANA Leader. She spent 1996 working at the Indianapolis Training Center, working with court-adjudicated juvenile delinquents, and this experience left a burden on her heart for serving young people who needed advocates and mentors. She attended Pensacola Junior College and graduated from Pensacola State College with an AA in Education in 2012. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from Regent University in 2019, as well as a Masters in Education with a focus on Reading Specialist in 2022. She is almost finished with her EdD in Exceptional Education Executive Leadership. Mary Beth can be found on the CIAS campus every day, as she serves the school as Principal. She has served on the CIAS Board as Vice-President since 2020.

Jana Roland is a 30-year homeschool veteran who brings to the table a wealth of practical home education experience. She owns and operates Homeschool Book Smart, otherwise known as Roland, Inc., the homeschool consignment bookstore in Pensacola. She and her husband Gary are proud parents of four grown daughters, all homeschooled, and they enjoy their many grandsons. Jana has served on the CIAS Board since xxxx.

Lee Hutchinson: Director

Lee Hutchinson has served at CIAS as the Senior Administrative Assistant since 2012, after serving in many school and college administrative capacities, including Gulf Coast Christian Academy and Brownsville Revival School of Ministry. Lee has served on the CIAS Board since 2020. Both of Lee's children were enrolled in CIAS and are CIAS alumni, Rebecca graduating in 2002 and Patrick in 2004. She is a proud grandmother to five children and one granddog. She has served on the CIAS Board since xxxx.​​

Gina Beauchamp: Director
Gina Beauchamp has served on the CIAS Board in the role of Director since 2020. She has been married to her husband, Anthony, since 1991 and is the mother of two sons. Gina homeschooled both her sons; her youngest son, Sean, is a CIAS alumnus, Class of 2022.

Patricia Jones serves CIAS as a math tutor and our Chief Financial Officer. She directs all of the financial audits, oversees payroll, bookkeeping, and taxes. Homeschooled all of her life, she graduated from high school in 1994. She volunteered in local churches in children's ministries, Sunday school, and AWANA. She spent 1996 working at the Indianapolis Training center, working with court-adjudicated juvenile delinquents, and this experience left a burden on her heart for troubled youth. She attended Pensacola Junior College and earned an AA in Accounting. She earned her B.S. in Accounting from the University of West Florida. She can be found on the CIAS campus every day, as she serves the school as Vice-Principal. Tricia has served on the CIAS Board as Treasurer and Director since 2020.

Roy G. Ward: Retired Director
Roy G. Ward served on the CIAS Board as a director for 20 years before retiring. He and his wife are parents to two CIAS alumni, Jocelyn and Jordana, and are proud grandparents. Roy served on the CIAS board from 1999 until his retirement.
