BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

Christian Institute of Arts and Sciences is blessed to have a Board of Directors who are active in local churches, ministries, businesses, and the local homeschooling community.

Julie B. Jones: President/Chairwoman

After a career as a middle school, high school, and junior college teacher, Julie Jones has dedicated her life to the cause of home schooling, mentoring and teaching her own children as well as many other students for over 50 years. She graduated from Baylor University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education (double major); her Masters of Science in English and Guidance and Counseling was earned from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1967. Julie has also completed post-graduate work with the National Institute of Learning Development. She is an educational therapist and currently works with over a half-dozen students on a weekly basis.  Julie was married to D. Patrick Jones for 44 years before he passed away in 2009. She is the blessed mother of 5, mother-in-law of 2, and beloved MaeMae to 6 precious grandchildren.

Mary Beth Jones: Vice-President/CEO/Secretary

Mary Beth Jones has dedicated her life's work to the vision and mission of CIAS. Homeschooled all of her life, she began helping her mom homeschool her siblings when she was finishing high school up in 1993 and was first exposed to the world of learning exceptionalities/special education as a teen in church as a  Missionettes/Daisies Sponsor and AWANA Leader. She spent 1996 working at the Indianapolis Training center, working with court-adjudicated juvenile delinquents, and this experience left a burden on her heart for serving young people who needed advocates and mentors. She attended Pensacola Junior College and graduated from Pensacola State College with an AA in Education in 2012. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from Regent University in 2019, as well as a Masters in Education with a focus on Reading Specialist in 2022. She has been accepted into Regent's doctoral program to pursue an Ed.D.. Mary Beth can be found on the CIAS campus every day, as she serves the school as Principal. She has served on the CIAS Board since 2020.

Lee Hutchinson: Director
Michael E. Collins: Pastoral/Director

Michael Collins is the Senior Pastor at Charity Chapel in Pensacola. He married his wife Pam in 1975 and has been pastoring since 1979. Michael attended Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts in 1977. In 1979, he received his Master’s Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Mike and Pam have three sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren. Mike serves on many boards, including Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen and Globe International. He also serves as the Northwest Florida & South Alabama District Overseer and is a Presbyter of Liberty Fellowship. He enjoys working with service dogs and enjoys ministering to special needs children and their families. Pastor Mike has served on the CIAS Board since 1999.

Jana C. Roland: Director

Jana Roland is a 30-year homeschool veteran who brings to the table a wealth of practical home education experience. owns and operates Homeschool Book Smart, otherwise known as Roland, Inc., the homeschool consignment bookstore in Pensacola.  She and her husband Gary are proud parents of four grown daughters, all of which were homeschooled, and enjoy their many grandsons. Jana has served on the CIAS Board since xxxx.

Patricia Jones: Director/CFO/Treasurer

Lee Hutchinson has served at CIAS as the Senior Administrative Assistant for 10 years (2012-2022). Lee has served on the CIAS Board since 2020.

Patricia Jones serves CIAS as a math tutor and our Chief Financial Officer. She directs all of the financial audits, oversees payroll, bookkeeping, and taxes. Homeschooled all of her life, she graduated from high school in 1994. She volunteered in local churches in children's ministries, Sunday school, and AWANA. She spent 1996 working at the Indianapolis Training center, working with court-adjudicated juvenile delinquents, and this experience left a burden on her heart for troubled youth. She attended Pensacola Junior College and earned an AA in Accounting in xxxx. She earned her B.S. in Accounting from the University of West Florida in xxxx.  She can be found on the CIAS campus every day, as she serves the school as Vice-Principal. Tricia has served on the CIAS Board since 2020.
