Tutoring
We have over thirty years of experience in teaching, home education, tutoring & testing. Our campus students receive one-on-one tutoring in the subjects in which they are needing help or having difficulty. Normally, this is in math, pre-algebra, Algebra I & II, English grammar, composition, and research paper writing. We specialize in English, spelling, creative writing, and handwriting in elementary grades. For high school students, we offer English grammar, composition, research paper writing, pre-algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II tutorials. Limited time slots are available. Rates: $15 for 1-hour lessons. If we cannot provide the help that you need, there are many other tutoring services in the surrounding area. Please call the school office for more information.

Grade Report Cards
CIAS tutors and teachers will be responsible for keeping records of students’ grades and test scores completed in academic subjects. See below policy for elective reports. Computerized report cards are sent out each quarter after reports are turned in or are completed at school. If you need a report card for a specific purpose, please request them from the school office two weeks in advance.

Quarterly Elective Record
Parents are responsible for recording and reporting all hours spent in Performing Fine Arts (PFA), Physical Fitness (PE), Work Experience/On-the-Job-Training OJT) and Community Service. They should be recorded on the appropriate Quarterly Record forms and turned in every quarter, once every nine weeks, twice a semester.

 Semester Elective Report
Music, Art, Drama, and Physical Education instructor evaluations should be turned in once a semester. You must have your instructor/teacher complete and sign the form. This covers private music lessons, drama, theatre, band, fine arts classes, taekwando, kung fu, karate, organized sports, YMCA sports, and any other PE classes.

Diagnostic Testing
These tests cover mathematics, English grammar, and reading comprehension in science and social studies. These tests indicate learning gaps or academic strengths in a student’s learning. After the evaluation is complete, we will suggest what curriculum would be best for the student or if specialized tutoring is needed. We require all campus students to receive diagnostic testing upon entrance. Fee: $10 per test per subject.

Achievement Testing
We offer ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) and the high school TAP (Tests of Achievement and Proficiency) testing for the following students:

Student Etiquette

Campus Student Conduct Code
Enrollment in the CIAS campus school is probationary and dependent upon whether students fit into the learning environment smoothly. The behavior code for CIAS campus students is to exemplify the nature of Jesus Christ in all they say and do. See I Corinthians 8-10, Romans 14, and Leviticus 19:28.

  • I will be quiet during school hours, except when in conversation with my teachers.
  • I will not use bad language; I will not take God's name in vain in any form.
  • I will not disturb anything on the teacher’s desk, sit at the desk, or open drawers in the desk while the teacher is absent.
  • I will not throw objects across the room or at the ceiling.
  • I will not write on desks, walls, reading or reference books, posters, etc.
  • I will not flirt with the opposite gender or behave suggestively.
  • I will not write and pass notes, nor ask other students to pass notes.
  • I will not tease with the intention of belittling or hurting another person’s feelings; I will not tease a person about unchangeable features.
  • I will not be mean; I will not say hurtful comments about anyone.
  • I will not gossip about teachers or other students, sowing discord and dissention.
  • I will not indulge in inappropriate touching or rough-housing, however innocent my intentions.
  • I will not fight with other students; I will not hit another person with the intent of hurting them.
  • I will not be dishonest; I will not lie, cheat on tests, or steal from anyone.
  • I will not be a rebel; This would include refraining from insolence, disrespect, passive disobedience, outright disobedience, and disregard to instructions or suggestion of teachers or CIAS administration.
  • I will not engage in sexual activity or immorality, look at pornography in any form, listen to ungodly and lewd music, or watch indecent movies.
  • I will not participate in seances or dabble in witchcraft or the occult.
  • I will not get body piercings or tattoos, nor will I engage in self-mutilation.
  • Male students: I will not get my ears or any other part of my body pierced while enrolled in CIAS.
  • Female students: I will not get more than two sets of ear piercings while enrolled in CIAS.
  • I will not use alcohol, tobacco, or drug-related substances. CIAS stands unabashedly for Jesus Christ.

We make no apologies for living zealous and fervent lives before our God. He says that we are to be in the world but not of it. That is, even though we live in this world, we are not to be partakers of its sinful seduction by having a worldly mindset, evident in beliefs, appearance and conversation, and through participation in carnal music and entertainment. James 4:4 says, "Friendship with the world is enmity against God." Both Luke 9:25 and Matthew 16:26 say, "What does it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul?"

Excused Absence from Attendance
Please notify the school in advance (on the previous day) if you are going to be absent from school. Excused absences include personal or family sickness, doctor, dentist, or orthodontist appointments, family emergencies, or family vacations. Regardless of these excused absences, all normal tuition fees are still due. The only school days exempt from tuition fees during the two-semester school year are Thanksgiving break (one week), Christmas break (two weeks in December, one in January) and the week of spring break. All other absences will be considered unexcused. Only five absences are allowed during a semester, except under special circumstances (i.e. prolonged  illness, etc).

Parent/Teacher Conference
The teachers and tutors make every effort to inform parents of their child’s academic progress and/or difficulties. If at any time the administration deems it necessary to arrange a Parent/Teacher Conference during the school year, we ask that both parents be in attendance. If at any time during the school year, a parent would like to meet with us for a review meeting, please arrange an appointment.

Withdrawing/Transferring
Should you withdraw your child from CIAS for any reason and/or cease as a parent/teacher from the school, immediately inform the school office of your intent. All outstanding tuition fees for the year must be paid and all required report forms must be delivered to the school office before cumulative files or transcripts will be released. We must receive TWO WEEKS prior notice before release of file.
